Coping with Loss

Crying is an acceptable and healthy expression of grief and a release of built-up tension. Cry freely as you feel the need.
Try to maintain a balanced diet, get rest and moderate exercise. Avoid the use of drugs and alcohol.
Give yourself extra lifts: hot baths, afternoon naps, a trip, time with special people, a walk in the woods, a favourite food.
Talk about your loss. This is the most important thing you can do to reduce the pain.
Accept yourself. Be gentle with yourself and reach out for help if you are having trouble coping.

About Us

Hospice Greater Moncton ...

is a volunteer organization, established in Greater Moncton in 2004, seeking to raise awareness of the unique needs of those who are living with life-limiting illnesses or who are dealing with end-of-life issues. We work within the community by providing the services and support for clients and families within their homes. More and more, people are making the choice to spend their last days at home, and we are there to help. Our volunteers are trained to give practical and emotional support during the end of life stages, and through the grieving process.

Hospice Greater Moncton is proud to work in conjunction with the Hospices of New Brunswick, the Volunteer Center of South-Eastern New Brunswick and the United Way.

Our Goal

Our goal is to build a “Hospice Home” in our community within the next 4 years, a home that will provide compassionate, quality 24 hour care for people who can no longer remain at home to die, but do not need to be in hospital.
